Delicias: Detalles en la Obra de Richard Neutra


Como adelanto de futuros artículos previstos, dedicados a la obra de Richard Neutra, les dejamos algunas delicias variadas que forman parte de su trabajo. Acompañan, junto a las imágenes, un extracto breve de sus obras completas, que señala una de las particularidades no siempre mencionadas de su obra.

Silver paint was the one constant in Neutra´s palette of materials. He specified it for hundreds of wood window stills, wood posts, roof gutters and galvanized metal fascia, whether the building was residential or commercial, 1935 or 1965. The office joke ran: “Mr Neutra, what is the best material to use for a steel house?” The question implies a mild deceit. If he was indeed making wood look like steel, Neutra was “dishonestly” aligning himself with the heroic new machine age of prefabrication and new technologies. Faux steel was better than no steel…
